Delivering A Carbon-Neutral Show

Right across the country, the Scene Change team feels very strongly about minimising the impact of events on the environment.

The very things that add energy and magic to corporate events are generally the elements that use the most power. Lights, lasers, big screen video all create magic for audiences, but they can add up to a sizeable carbon footprint. We feel it’s time to take some responsibility for its impact on global carbon levels.

So in mid-2007 we became the first AV company in the world to become carbon neutral.

Full Carbon Offsets At No Cost To Clients
We’re purchasing carbon credits to offset the AV power used on all our clients’ events, as well as offsetting the carbon footprint from our own business operations. Unlike some commercial carbon offsets, it will cost clients no extra, as Scene Change is paying the offsets on your behalf.

Energy-Saving Equipment Options
For clients who want to support our environmental initiatives, we’re also offering a range of low-impact equipment options. For example, you could choose our new LED lighting, which uses less than 10% of the power required for conventional stage lighting. As all of Scene Change’s equipment has been bought new during the last 12 months, it means we can offer the latest and most power-efficient technology.

Not Just Offsets
Scene Change is very conscious that sustainability needs more than just paying for carbon offsetting. Our technical staff, guided by Tasmanian Technical Director Steve Fraser, have spent a considerable amount of time developing an Environmental Responsibility strategy to guide us in our day-to-day operations. There are a lot of simple things that can make a difference. Making sure equipment is turned off overnight, not left on standby. Avoiding unnecessary document printing. Better planning of delivery trips. We believe that every small step can make a difference.

The Program
Our carbon offset program which invests its funds in practical, community-based energy minimisation programs such as widespread distribution of low-energy lightbulbs and showerheads. This gives a more measurable and immediate benefit than, for example, tree plantations.

What Do I Need to Do?
Just by using Scene Change to stage your event, all the energy your AV and staging uses will be fully offset. We thank you for your support on this critical issue.
